The monthly Argenta Art Walk was a big success Friday night. Many of the artists were on display inside First Presbyterian Chuch as shown above. Barry Brandt with Channel 7 News even broadcast the 5:00 pm weather forecast from inside the church highlighting Argenta and the Artwalk.
There were artists on display at several businesses along Main Street as well, including the Baler House, Pennington Studius, HDMS, Strarving Artists Cafe and Argenta Art Company. There were many people in attendance at the Argenta Art Company (AAC) sneak preview and the following picture is from inside the AAC.
After the Art Walk was over at 8:00 pm there was not a seat to be had inside Starving Artists Cafe or Ristorante Capeo and most of those seats were filled by people who had come down to Argenta for the Art Walk. That is waht we call synergy.

The Collegiate Green Building Tour visited Argenta today. They toured City Grove Townhomes, the historic Manees House and the Argenta Community Garden, then they headed to Little Rock for a tour of the Vertical Lofts project and Heifer International. The students were impressed with our work in Argenta, and they appreciated the hospitality of Argenta tour guides Tom Marr, Kandy Jones, Monty Richard, and the developers of City Grove.

Make certain that climbing roses are securely attached to their supports.
Plant spring blooming bulbs daffodils, narcissus and the like and follow the soil depth, spacing and which end down instructions.
Use small stakes or markers where you've planted bulbs or late-starting plants in the perennial garden to avoid disturbing them when you begin spring soil preparation.
Also a good time to sow native wildflower seeds for next year blooms, such as coneflower, daisies, bee balm and the like.
Apply protective mulches on the perennial garden after the ground has frozen an inch or two.
Cover strawberries two inches deep with hay or straw.

n case you missed it and it was hard to miss, a television commercail was shot at several different locations in Argenta on Thursday. The commercial was for an out of state bank, so it is unlikely you will see it here. But hey, if you are in Florida kicking back and watching some televison and think you recognize Argenta scenes in a commercial you may be right!

The Argenta Community Garden is part of a green-building tour coming to Argenta on Saturday November 22nd at 1:00. We are one of 4 sites on the tour and there may be as many as two busloads of visitors. Kandy Jones and Monty Richards will conduct the tour of the garden, and there may be a historic preservation expert on hand to talk about eco-friendly maintenance techniques for old buildings like the Manees House. Most of the Junior League members will be tied up with the holiday home tour (not in Argenta), so everyone who's free is invited to join Monty and Kandi in the garden for this special event on Saturday

Do you have old cans of paint sitting around the house that you'd like to get rid of? It's not allowed in the landfill, but there is a way: There will be a regional collection day for paint at the Sherwood Public Works facility, 6500 North Hills Blvd., this Saturday from 8 to noon. Only "household quantities" of paint will be accepted; in other words, this is not so all the unused paint at a construction site can be disposed of. But if you've still got a few gallons of avocado latex leftover from your last remodel in 1953, this is for you. Be first to comment this article |

Over a year ago, Argenta Drug Store on Main Street in downtown North Little Rock rehabbed the outside of their building which included repainting, redoing windows and according to the owner repairing the metal awnings. These awnings are critical to curb appeal of this building and where have they gone? How does a building in the Argenta Historic District get to remove a historic awning then not replace it? Where is the enforcement of our Historic District rules? If this can be done to this Argenta landmark, can I remove the wood trim from the Baker House front porch with no consequences?
